STATEMENT OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Students learn
best in a nurturing environment with individualized instruction. Teaching
piano is my passion, and I will do whatever it takes to meet my students
where they are and make them successful as musicians. My hope for my
students as they progress is for them to reach a level of mastery and
understanding where they can move beyond technical proficiency to use music
expressively.
My students will learn good practice and performance
techniques, how to read music, and basic improvisation. I provide
accountability through practice goals. For younger students, I use a fun
reward system.
My curriculum is drawn from popular method books, which
I supplement with solo literature that appeals to the individual student.
I hope that my students move on from my lessons with a
better understanding of music, a sense of real accomplishment, skills in
playing the piano that they can use throughout their lives, and a deeper
love of music.
